A troll in my opinion is someone who can't help but we an irritant, and they are best ignored. I have also had unfortunate experience of Trolls posting fake links, some of which are probably vile and disgusting, its these trolls that make you think..... what has happened to Humanity?
And of course the minor trolls are there to push you, and as long as you remain calm you can either convince them to stop or end up banning them (banning should be used if the trolls activities continue to be unacceptable)

What do I consider Trolling? Basically someone who gives negative comments to some one else on purpose. Even some one who says "This site is a repeater!" Especially when it isn't. Some one who doesn't even look at your forum plot and says that.
Okay, Yeah I'm pretty ticked right now, because someone decided to put on my site, "This site feels like a repeater". They didn't give a reason why, or nothing. I view that as disrespectful and negative criticism. That, I consider trolling. I don't think they even bothered to read the plot, because, it is ALL original, from my head. Yes, it's based on the clans, but it's entirely different clans, in a different era, with a bit of fantasy in it. It even has a dragon that is harassing the clans. BUT the one I have right now is version two of the original, so maybe they had seen my original a few months back and not quite remembered it until they saw V2. Even if they admit to that, I still believe that is trolling. The comment is meant to tear some one down.
I'm sorry, but if you people who tell sites if they're repeaters are watching this, I hope you understand from the admin's point of view that it's considered trolling to them. And is NOT liked at all. Instead provide some POSITIVE Criticism. Negative doesn't do a thing, but tear some one down, maybe even close a site, makes people hate/dislike you, ban you, etc. Believe me, there is no good consequences, only bad ones.

People who harass others or spam cboxes/inboxes are considered trolls, to me. And people who are annoying. XD

I'd say a troll is anyone who goes on a forum and doesn't actually use the forum for it's intended purpose. One of the forums I'm on regularly got hit by the same troll a couple of times; the person created an account for the forum and sent graphic and disturbing images to all the members on that forum. Mostly from what I've seen, trolls want the attention and recognition, whether it be "oh my god, what is this" or something smaller. So useless. >W>

forum got trolled by some guy who quit the society we are mostly all members of and posted a naff sexual comment about one of the members of my board. came back as a yank troll, except the group he claimed to be a member of never heard of him. yet another ip added to the ban have trolled in the past, some guy wound me up, so picked a name that was almost his name, but was slightly different and posted stuff on a landrover usenet forum. got a phone call threatening all manner of things if he could prove it, asked did he have any proof ? eventually admitted he had none >click< joined a forum later and seems he did as well, admitted the troll a few years later and got an interesting call the next day boards should require registrations, but not much use when your admin approves everyone without really knowing who they are, so regularly check newbs...

Someone who consistently comes onto a forum/chat with the intent to annoy/upset the atmosphere that exists within the community on the board, resulting in getting banned to which they then go and use another IP address to come back and do it again....I also refer to them as PITA's (pains in the a**)
Trolls should given on-line asbos ^_^

It's really not hard to spot a troll on my end. For 5 years now, I've been around internet trolls I like to call my gamer guild. The only reason I have stuck around so long with them is because I got history with them, they can be hilarious and I enjoy playing MMORPG's with them. This is how I know someone is trolling:- If their post is too out of this world unbelievable and makes you wonder if they are for real. Like, "I saw a unicorn the other day, I ate it, and eventually started pooing rainbows."
- If they come into a thread and posted a random image like "u mad bro", "you don't say" etc., in a very serious topic.
- One major one, is when they purposely get themselves in trouble in order to create an argument between them and the members. This is why it's never a good idea to respond back to a troll. They are likely to respond with childish remarks they find funny to get a rise out of the members.
- Consistent rule breakers who constantly get warned. If a member breaks that many rules, it has to be on purpose which makes them a troll.
There is small things that are minor that I find to be trolling as well. For instance: A poster (lets call him robie22) decides to rant about his day in the "Rant" board of the forum and talks about being cut off by some guy with glasses in a crappy ford. All this person wants to do is rant and to get people's opinion on whether he was over reacting or not. Then comes in the troll who says, "LOLZ i bet it was kyle223!" Obviously this is a person trolling because it provides no actual input on the subject and automatically has kyle223 wondering why he was brought up in a thread that has nothing to do with him.

Trolling to me is people harassing others, flaming and derailing a forum thread, and 4chanism. I also had to ban macro images because it's so stupid and pointless once. It also can mean you're attacking someone just for asking for help

Trolling is when a member attacks another member. I've been a member of a board where a troll went to the trouble of making an almost duplicate av of the board owner to attack this poster and was allowed to do it. If you don't like what another person says, address the post, not the poster.

Honestly, I consider a troll anyone who comes onto the site with the intention to use it for what it isn't. Or the ones that come around to a dead site after it has died and post on the chat-box, doing whatever they came to break up whatever remains a site has. Also, anyone who finds that they are being funny about something that is very important or serious.
