I think that it's really helpful as it allows you to see who is active on your forum, even if they're in a different time-zone. It helps you find out who is active on your forum and who is in-active. On one forum I visited once, there was only one Admin, however it shows them twice on the Past 24 hour list for some reason. So, the flaws in the code are a downside.
However, overall I give the feature a 8/10.

I love this feature, I love knowing who's been on when I've gone to sleep and who hasn't. It annoys me to have all of the google bots in the guest count but it's something that I just have to put up with. It's also handy to find out who hasn't log in for a while, so I can move the necessary bio's of the inactive members. I can see how it can be annoying to others but it's a personal favourite of me. Haha I just love wondering how the site makes it happen

Since my board was updated to v4.5, I have found the users on line feature is very helpful. I am able to click on someone's name to send them a pm instead of having to do a search for them.
One of my member's PM'd me the first day we had it and said, "WOW, congratulations"..I think it is a positive reinforcement for members to see the forum is active.

We have just been upgraded this week, I thinkit is a great addition to the forum.
It is excellent to be able to view who has visted inthe past 24hrs, much better than going through members search.
I just wish the users names showed up to guests as well, as opposed to just the number of visitors. I understand that with over 100 visitors a day though, it just shows as a number to guests and only usernames once logged on.

I think that it's also really doing well. It shows if a member has been on, so since I'm doing a major re-vamp on my forum, I can see who's been around so I don't have to delete them. I really like it--but not when it's only for bogus accounts. That's just... stupid. -_-

I like find I quite like it at times. My forum gets quite a number of guests and it's nice to have them log on and see that there has been quite a bit of activity. The forum tho does have it's quiet days and that's usually when most of the guests appear to have a look. It can discourage them from signing up if there is not much activity and this can be seen in the "users in last24 hours" box.

I had the code installed before the upgrade. I like being able to see who had been on the board during the night or while I'm away. It also helps me keep track of staff that should be there but aren't. There are no bogus users on my list. Each name belongs to a real account.

This is actually very useful in ways. If people can see that a lot of people log on daily then they might think that the forum is active, in turn, this might convince them to join and be a part of that active crew, too. It's also nice for administrators to know who has been active or logging on and who has not, that way they know who to make staff or who they know is a good candidate for staff.

I think this is uselful in more ways than one. First, it allows users/guests to see a total number of members online in that board, it is helpful for the board's notoriousness and popularity in the future. Basically, it's also the important stat of the board. Guests even know how many people have been online and staff also have a key role in this as they can see who is on more frequently and who is not.

I actually adore this feauture. Mainly because certain little buggers are inactive and it makes it easier for me to track them down ^_^.
So yeah wooo for the users online feature.

I guess it's kind of interesting to see who has been online in the past 24 hours.. but does it really matter?
I'm more interested in seeing who i currently online at the moment, then wether or not they have been on sometime during the day, but aren't currently online..
I do want to say though, It is helpfull if your looking to see if a certain people are being active and logging in every day, but...
if your site is big with a lot of members, that list will be long, and hard to look for one person in it, and it might take up too much space..
Hmm.. I'm undecided on this..

Since I have a smaller forum, I do find I like to see who has been online in the past 24hrs; it helps me to notice if someone seems disinterested in what's available and allows me to contact them and see what's up. Sometimes it shows members who sign on as invisible, or at least shows that someone signed in as invisible -- which is nice. I do tend to think that it encourages people to join, since then there is proof that our numbers aren't just "join and never post" people.
I'm not good at coding, so faking these accounts would never occur to me, but the fact that someone did and could is a little disturbing -- it kind of defeats the main option I like about the new information centre. Then again, it all depends on the site and posts amount as to whether or not one could get away with it.

I think that the Users online code is really useful. It lets you know who logged in for the last 24 hours and that's good, especially because you can see who is active and who is not... I think that when the site is really active and a lot of members log in everyday is a benefit because it attracts more people... But unfortunately when the site is not so active and only 2 or 3 people bother to log in it's the other way around... New members realise that the site is inactive and they never bother to log in again...
But whatever happens I would never use a code to show that my site is more active than it already is... I think it's unnescessary plus I believe that is like cheating (I just have this feeling).

For me I think the USERS ONLINE TODAY is a great feature.... I run a forum that has GRAPHICS for GRAB and there are many that can be snagged. This feature allows me to see who has signed on the board and just lurked and didn't post.....
I don't have my info center available to non-members, so they won't know the activity of the board until they join.....

I like the feature personally. Before I ever created a site I always found them rather annoying (mostly for the huge sites) because i would always confuse the online to the 'was' online bit. So I guess I like the code for small/new sites. It's a better way to see how many people observe the site. I also noticed yesterday that you can see guests whom had viewed as well which I think is pretty sweet. I would never make millions of bogus accounts to fool the public. Though I do admit to having switched on diff screen names for personal purposes. See, on my site my friend & owner of the site made an admin account for us to use. So whenever editing the forum I switch from my main to there, and occasionally his (the actual admin account), because you cant modify member groups on non-admin accounts. (weird, eh?). SO usually when Im on I end up signing on 3 accounts. Perhaps when everything is complete I wont have to hop accounts to fix stuff. Atleast I hope. lol.
