What Is An IP - Regarding IP's On Your ProBoard

Im sort of confused on a few things if a person has ur ip can they send you a virus that is osmething that has always bothered me

Can you tell where someone lives exactly just by the IP address?
I'm not comfortable with random forum admins knowing my home address.

Funny enough you should say that because someone I help out on another board started a "is this where you live" topic.
Nonetheless I found it kinda creepy and told him so.
But he just thought it was funny.
I find it uncomfortable too

It is not true that only Owners/Admins can see IPs - if a user is hosting avatar and signature images on a domain they have server log access to, they can see the IPs of everyone who views their posts.

Not exactly where they live, but the city where someone lives. You can find one of these services here.
