I can’t duplicate at will however I’ve had 3 popup windows when clicking on “View the 100 most recent posts made at San Diego Scene,” from the info center. The first time I thought I was seeing things, on the third time I got the below link, notice: referer=sandiegoscene.proboards.com

I had the following ad with audio in this thread (the one we are currently in) while reading the most recent.


I had two very strange occurrences while browsing through threads in GT.

One where there was a pop up square ad in the far upper left corner of the page. Not certain that it was generated from PB I discounted that it may have come from another page and closed it. All I can remember about it was something like "Your opinion counts to us.. Click Here"

The other was something that if it was generated from ProBoards should is quite serious. I was taken to an entirely new page in the same tab where I was browsing through ProBoards. I think I was still in GT, maybe the thread Post Your Desktop. Where it took me was a blank page with a pop up notice that my computer might be in danger of malware. Hating these things as much as I do I closed that tab as quickly as I could. I know these things are a hoax but when you start interacting with their site it usually leads to REAL malware.

Did a quick scan after that with MalwareBytes which rendered 0 results.

At this point I am somewhat inclined to think both these occurrences were generated from PB ads. Only inclined and not conclusive.

If either of these should happen again, I'll do what I can to capture links and screen caps.

EDIT:
After posting this I read through CM's post above mine and core.insightexpressai.com is what the small square pop up ad was in my upper left corner as mentioned above. I'm now a little more certain that it was generated from a PB ad.

Unfortunately just screen shots provide very limited help to us in blocking ads. We need to find the actual network delivering the ad. Details are in the first post of information that we need to help block these.

We also are keeping an eye out for these ads and hope to block all the inappropriate ones soon.

The odd thing about the one in the instance for the screen cap I provided was there was no link to copy. The audio was playing and the banner ad was at the time as I captured it.

In the instance of the malware, I was taken away from ProBoards. There wasn't an existing ad to copy a link to.

We're looking into these attempting to find the source.

I tried to practice patience in this one. I was experiencing a number of audio occurrences on ProBoards Support forum. I noticed a multitude of activity in the status bar while the page was trying to load different audio clips (I think). I did hear different audio clips that sounded like movie trailers. Eventually I saw the words "popunder" and then was redirected to This Link.
This replaced the PB page I was on and was not a pop up or pop under. I'll do another malware scan just in case it's in my system.

If you're talking about what I posted in GT v5 Q & A about report ad (for admins only), most of the problems I'm encountering are here in support.

But I'm sure it will help you where others are finding things on their own forums.

By the way, I did a quick and a full malware scan with zero results.
