Proboards Skin - Comments?

Hey everyone!

I would just like any kind of critique/comments for my skin I made at TPBS.

I like it. A good unique take on a skin too Just a few things to bring up.

Logo/menu - my monitor is wide yes but it's aligned to the left. Doesn't seem right, I think central would be better. The problem is that the logo isn't really obvious enough, isn't given enough prominence.
Category names - not a fan of the font, not totally sure what would be better, but it's certainly a bit big.
Minor things like link hover being overline underline that annoys me, and you should probably have the border of input boxes different to the actual box.

Hey, that's a really nice skin!

The only things I disagree with is the menu bar and the category names. I think you should lower the opacity of the the reflections on the menu bar. And, like Anselm, I don't like the category name font.

But, really good job!

Oh, and ONE more thing. The forms. On the register page, I can't see the border. The borders are helpful.

Super late reply... but!

I will definitely look into changing the category font. Looking at it now, the font does look a little... too RP-ish. If that makes sense.

I will be adding a border to all of the input fields. The reason I didn't add a border was initially because I wanted the category to appear to merge in with the forum itself. So, hopefully I can find some middle ground.

I will look into the menu buttons, but that will take some time since coding that part took forever because I had to host each image (which took forever ).

The double lined hover links probably won't change, but I'll keep it mind.

As for the logo, what do you mean it doesn't give enough presence? What would you suggest in making it more... well, important?

I'm a bit late responding. I really think you did a great job. There are a couple things though.

I agree that the banner looks odd off to the side. You want your visitors to be drawn to the things of importance on your site. First is your banner but rather than really notice your banner my eye goes over to the menu bar and then my eye stops there. So nothing draws my eye to the other things you have. I believe those text buttons being higher up than the bottom of your banner must be doing it. So the menu bar has more prominence than your banner.

Your cat text, as others mentioned, is big. It should not be as big as your banner text. Another reason the banner doesn't have prominence.

And maybe, just maybe there is a bit overkill on the reflections but they are well done, in my opinion.

@ Tumbleweed, Okay, I will definitely be making the category text smaller. I'll see about making the banner larger. As for the menu bar, it's actually aligned in the same position as the banner, but may not appear so. The menu bar graphics will take forever for me to edit, so I'm going to hold off on that for a bit.
