I have been on the phone with them a lot over the weekend. I didnt really get very far because the upstream providers we need to contact only work M-F (typical)
I am currently on hold at sky waiting to talk to one of their operations guys. I also have a reference number with their upstream providers.
Im getting the ball rolling, hopefully can get something definitive very soon

Yeah I'm getting the issues also but very good job Proboards for responding so quickly. I'm not the owner of the connection or the package it's a part of, so I doubt they would listen to me. The :8080 fix seems to work for now. My guess is that it's at the actual exchanges where the problem lies. Easynet I believe manages a few so people on other ISPs might be getting the problem because somewhere down the route, their connection passes through an Easynet exchange. If that happens, then it would make sense that a Tiscali and UKonline user also got the problem.

When I spoke to them, I felt a bit strange, there were pauses on his end, which is unusual, I kind of felt like there was something he wasnt say, or that he knew more.. but maybe thats paranoia on my end....
One of my groups is a group of ladies in their um....Autumn years, sharing poetry and pet stories....not exactly porn and file sharing huh! lol....
I agree with whoever said sky are good but have a really rubbish help desk, I have found that at every turn too, when I set my broadband up, they were clueless....they are just as bad with sky plus. Its a real shame...

Its a real shame... I think you are right. I have been calling various other departments and have confirmed directly from the source of the block list that we are on it. Im guessing sky are not meant to say that something has been blocked for the blocklist, and the couple that got more info just got lucky with employees that were mistaken to give out more information. Basically it seems that someone skipped to notifying UK authorities of problem content that was posted without ever contacting us. That said, i have been talking to that company and once i jump through a few hoops (such as them verifying who i am and who the company is by calling their US counterparts) we can get unblocked. I dont think ill get to bed anytime soon ;D

Agreed, fantastic service but whenever something goes wrong they are stumped. I think it's because they brought out EasyNet so that they could provide their own ISP to customers. Problem is that EasyNet still seems to be running like an independent operation. Without EasyNet becoming completely Sky, I think it provides a bit of confusion, like one hand doesn't know what the other one is doing. Anyone tried contacting EasyNet themselves? Still owned by Sky and Sky run, but I imagine it's more technical minded people that end. Not only might we get an explanation on what went wrong but it's likely to be them or at least that side of the company which needs to implement and make a fix, alerting them now might be quicker than waiting for someone at Sky to decide to contact them.

This is definitely affecting non-Sky users. I have all the same symptoms, starting at the same time as everyone else, but I don't use Sky for anything. My provider is ukonline. Like everyone else I can't access boards via the standard URLs, though using the :8080 alternative works perfectly. UKOnline are wholly owned by Sky. Therefore you'll be using the core Easynet network, in the same way as Sky Broadband users. Ergo ...you'll experience the same issues

As of of now when I arrived home from work and tried my forum again, the original url is working at last (without the :8080 fingers crossed)!! Sky may have got their act together at last. I hope this time it stays working for longer than a few hours UK time 15.00hrs Sky User Many thanks Martin for all your effort it means a lot!!

I too find no problem any more. I typed the address like I usually do (without the :8080) and only realised once I press enter. But it loaded! URL hasn't changed to include :8080 either so another Sky user able to annoy you all without hindrance

Hmm, mine still isn't working even with the :8080 . Three accounts there for me, and none of them will load without getting the error.

It's been working normally on my Sky connection for a couple of hours now so fingers crossed that it's a permanent fix but I await the new sticky with bated breath! Thanks for all your efforts Martyn and everyone else involved at Proboards.
