well, technically it could be classed as graphics design, after all it is video editing and creation.. a sort of distant cousin, as it were! anyway, i made a trailer for my RP forum, just wanted to get some feedback! made using footage from VtM: Bloodlines and er.. my own voice

Nicely done! I have wished I knew how to create videos like that but I don't. lol By the way, I like your accent. Were the burning house and the texture/images that run over it all together originally or was that something that you put together? And what kind of programs did you use to create it?

the burning house and rolling road image are actually footage from Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines on a loop. I set the house as the main back ground, put the footage of the road on top of the house and lowered it down to 50% opacity. I used a licensed version of fraps to record the footage in game, then used Sony Vegas Pro 9.0 to edit it post recording. The intro and ending were created using various bits and bobs in sony vegas pro. Put them altogether, changed the colouring from studio RGB to Computer RGB (to make it look darker) then sharpend the whole thing to make it look high quality. I then added a recording i made from my mobile phone as my microphone is broken =D the whole process isn't too different from photoshop really, only take an hour or two to fiddle about and play around and then you know where most things are and thanks, it's nice to know people like my accent edited first post: added a a test trailer intro for any potential future videos regarding my rp forum

Thank you for the explanation on how you made the video. I'll have to read up on the programs you used.

I am totally jealous you know how to do that stuff. I'll have to reread your explanation again and maybe I'll get a clue.
Your voice is perfect for narrating. I love all the affects you created in the first one but my only complaint is the same affect ran a bit too long. If there could have been a pause somewhere in the narration and then some dramatic switching of the affects, I think, would have been better. As it were, at first I was wowed but as it went on I started getting bored. That's society for you...bored quickly and need new stimulation. But wow, that voice is nice.
You did some pretty cool things in the 2nd one as well. I'm really impressed.

You're welcome and yes, you probably do under-estimate just how good your voice is for narrating.
I think teaching yourself generates the most creativity and uniqueness whereas "students" of the field are often brainwashed with preconceived ideas and the, so called, "right way to do things" and rarely think out of the box. Not always true but often true.
I think a workshop to just to give people the basic foundation for making a video is a great idea.
