you'd have to make new images. for example, my forum has this:
header image: kamidraws.paul-shepherd.com/images/TARPimgs/v5/banner.jpg
middle image: kamidraws.paul-shepherd.com/images/TARPimgs/v5/middle.jpg
footer image: kamidraws.paul-shepherd.com/images/TARPimgs/v5/bottom.jpg
if you don't want to do this, again, try a background that is 1280 pixels wide and 1280 pixels high. it's not perfect, but not too many people have resolutions higher than that.
