Okay, I swear to god, If I get locked one more time...I can't really do anything but whatever.
The deal is is that I'm trying to make a background for my forum. What is the size (lxw kinda deal) of pro-boards background? I don't want the background to repeat.
Also, I can't do graphics very well myself...so why is it that even when I say that it isn't for a request, I still get a requesting thread locked? I saw a mod do the same thing and of course they wont get locked. :/

If you were planning to use this thread to get someone else to make you a graphic then yes ... it would be locked too because that's not what this board is for. However, that's not what this thread appears to be. So to answer your question, there is no specific size because the background size is completely dependent on a person's screen resolution. So what size might look good to you may not work for someone else. Of course, it also depends on what kind of background your wanting as well. Let's say you wanted to use a border background (kind of like this) then you'd just need to know what size you want the boards to be so that they fit within the border and then make the borders accordingly. If you could maybe give some further details as to what kind of background image you have in mind I might be able to give you more specific suggestions. Regarding your graphic requests, it doesn't matter if you are capable of making graphics yourself or not. The fact that you have a graphic request board on your forum is the reason your threads were locked. And as for you saying about a mod getting a request filled and not having their request locked or whatever ... well, feel free to point me to the thread in question and I will check it out. Though I think I know which request you might be referring to and if it is the one I'm thinking of then the board was checked and did not contain a request board.

Mm. I'll find it in a second. And no, this one isn't. ^^ I'm just having issues...no matter what size picture we put as the background, it always repeats. :/ and, the mod said the same thing I did...that they had a request/graphics board, but it wasn't for that. I'll edit this when I find it again.
EDIT: I apologize. I read hers wrong. :/ My bad.

I'll edit this when I find it again. EDIT: I apologize. I read hers wrong. :/ My bad. The problem with backgrounds -any backgrounds, no matter what size- is that people will view them differently depending on their monitor resolutions. For example, if I made a background that was 800px wide and 600px tall (800x600) it would show perfectly in monitors that are that same resolution -- in higher resolution monitors (1024x780, 1280x1024, etc), it would repeat. The higher resolution you make your background, the more monitors they would encompass [eg: a background that is 1600x1024 would work just fine in anything smaller]. You can stop repeating using simple CSS which you'd put in your header, the writing of depending on how you want the background to look [there's no repeat, repeat horizontally, repeat vertically], and how you want it aligned [top, center, bottom]. Ultimately, the background will repeat no matter what without that CSS, depending on your monitor resolution; even with CSS, if the image is too small for someone's specific monitor resolution -- it may not repeat, but there will be no image in the "extra" areas, just the background colour. edit;; i presume as well you were referring to my request thread? you seem to have realised, but just to clarify - my request was allowed because while i have an art forum, there's no place to ask for graphics to be made. =]
