Quick Question - Pen Tool in Photoshop

I'm familiar with everything in Photoshop... except the Pen Tool. I never use it.

So, I'm trying to follow this tutorial on creating a 3D arrow, and boom! It tells me to use the pen tool. Crap. -.-

How do you make a selection like this?



I've tried, first of all, to even just go down the side of the arrow, but then some gradient or color starts to overlay the layer. I want it to be just a selection.

Yea, don't hotlink. Either rehost or post the link.

As for the question, try right clicking the shape you made with the pen tool and go down to "make selection".

Well it's for line art, but it uses the pen tool. Should solve your colour fill. =]

Whoa! I actually did upload it onto Tiny pic... My C button has been having issues these past couple days, it probably didn't copy. I hate hotlinking, I always rehost images.

EDIT: I'll take a look at your tutorial, thanks Kami! I can't believe I haven't used the pen tool yet, however. It seems like a necessary part of photoshopping.

I think once you get used to using the Pen tool, you will use it a lot more than you ever thought you would. I know I do and I never used to use it.
