Not sure what noob thought of that back then ='[ i miss noob. anyway, 'elite designer' is just a general term. i'm talking about the designers that have been able to make a name for themselves; when i was starting (not all that long ago, tbh!) it was like pulling teeth to get a decent explanation/critique out of anyone. i'm not saying i'm one of the best designers out there; but, a lot of people will look at a piece of work, and go EWWWWWWWW and not even respond. Those are the aspiring designers that need the most advice and explanation, not the ones to avoid. all i'm saying is if you want people to just pat you on the back, go to dA, where you have to pay to ask for critique. if you want the PB design community to get started again, don't ignore the newer designers. i'm not saying answer every single new person's thread, by any means. just vary who you respond to. edit;; to add, i'm seeing a lot of names here i don't recognise, and i've been here for four years now. =X y'all complain about the state of GDD (in addition to PB design in general) but when was the last time you gave a rate here? or posted your own work?

Well I'm pretty a lot of us would be down for the idea of a graphics forum but it never usually works. I think it's because usually two designers collaborate to make a forum but can never get any members because other designers are off making their own forums. It'd work better if a group collaborated together. A cause could also be a lack of members.
But I'd be down to join/make a forum. trying to get back into design and that'd help a great deal.

I've heard that DX5 is likely to come back with V5, and I think it may stimulate skinning (and definitely coding) a bit. It'll be interesting to see the effect, because the last 'boom' as such came, I think, with the release of V4. Doubt DX5 will come back. All their designers and member base left like years ago. Though I do see a lot of fresh new coders around. =D

Right can we keep this on topic and not drift into 'i'll start a design board', 'my board needs designers', personal chats etc

I think back when I was still a little bit active I was very guilty of this - I found it much easier to reply to a thread by quite an experienced designer cos I knew that they'd probably be able to understand what I was trying to get across. There's also too much to get across to a new designer as well - you can only give so many suggestions before it just seems like you're being a bit of a dick. I think it's probably better to just get the activity going on gdd first anyway before people decide they want to go off and create a new design forum - if there's a decent amount of activity here to start with then it'll be much easier to get something going elsewhere.

I do think its overall because the designers are getting older and leaving forums. I also think that its because theres not enough coders to code all these new forums thats why so many are becoming the same. Like someone will make a great design, and it wouldn't even be coded because theres not many coders around to code it, so the design is then left.
