I do have a colleague who specialises in recovering data from physically damaged hard drives, including RAIDs.
I guess there must be many such specialists in US.
Obviously this costs money but many of us would be willing to make a contribution.
SECONDLY, would it be possible for the central administrator to post a notice on every board about the failure? This would stop so many people asking "where is my data?"

I'd ask some help here now. My RPG forum is losting posts since 25th-26th on July. Not all of the posts, only the newest ones. I've added a note on board, where I told to save everything on their own computer or memorystick. But I guess I'm not alone with this.
Is there something wrong with the server or something? And please, tell me, 'cause RPG forum with message loss is quite irritating.

Any posts made since the last backup of your forum would have been lost, which in your case was the last couple days of posts. Patrick

Hey, just started thumbing through this thread and realized it was what I was going through as well... Question, though. Is is possible that some boards weren't backed up in July at all? I've lost the last month's worth of posts of my board. I believe the newest post on my board is June 29-30, besides the announcement to my friends - that has shown up, but other than that, I've lost A LOT of posts. tsukig.proboards.com/index.cgi

I have exactly that same problem. My site has also gone back to June 30 in terms of header changes and new members being "gone" and members that I deleted back on the site. graypelt.proboards.com When will this site be restored?

Ok seriously people!, things like this happen, I understand that many people lost stuff but is it nessascerry to critasize PB for this? PB is free so be thankfull that it is or go pay for something else! In a case something like this I lost several thousand post and over 300 members but I did not complain.
But Patrick, I do agree that since the new servers PB has lost outrageous ammounts of data.

I asked a legitimate question regarding the "bumps in the road" that people have been experiencing. Next time, try to read a little deeper than the surface, "Southpark13". There's a difference between complaining and stating an issue.

I was not talking about you specifically, just the negitive people in general.

How exactly do you know where servers are? ProBoards uses The Planet for their hosting; their HQ, and i think their data centers are in Texas.
