wimg.co.uk/UNu.pngI made this background for a skin i am working on. But when i put it on the board it wasn't wide enough for my screen. How do you skin designers make sure that the background doesn't show up to the left or rite of your image? Or how do you get it to be wide enough? What should i resize it to? Also i would like some rates on how i did. It is my first background. I am planning on this being a Pokemon Emerald skin so i will be adding some Pokemon pictures to the background.

With that kind of background the best thing to do is use a code that will tile the background down the center but also allow it to tile from side to side.

Ok i guess i need to request that code... What size is the best width for a background image? there isn't one. how a background image appears depends entirely on each individual person's monitor resolution. obviously, the larger the image, the more resolutions it will fit (eg: a 1600x1200 image will fit 1600x1200 res monitors and lower; an 800x600 image will only fit 800x600 res monitors). personally i wouldn't use that kind of background the way you have it now. i'd make each 'column' (with the clover-like pattern) have a definite end -- perhaps add another 'bar' to each end of the picture. that way, if the picture does wind up being too small for the resolution it's being viewed at, the fact it doesn't repeat looks intentional. also, it'll save you from making a code request. :3

Out of curiosity, Kami, why do you suggest that it should have a definite 'end' to the background, when that image can be tiled seamlessly in any direction?

actually i think i know what i will do and i will need a code is it possible to use more than one background image? here is a diagram of what i think i want. wimg.co.uk/d4e.bmpThe black is the image i have now. It should replicate down. the blue is an image that shows up if the first image doesn't fill the page and replicates all directions the white is a centered image that does not replicate is that possible?

Out of curiosity, Kami, why do you suggest that it should have a definite 'end' to the background, when that image can be tiled seamlessly in any direction? because the image he's using wouldn't actually be 'seamless'. =] the way the bg is designed, the 'middle' portion is supposed to go directly behind the board. to have it repeated is extraneous, as there won't be boards to the left or right of the image. you may not notice it at all on smaller res monitors, but speaking from experience (i've had a 1600x1024 monitor) it looks really odd done the way he'd want. actually i think i know what i will do and i will need a code is it possible to use more than one background image? here is a diagram of what i think i want. wimg.co.uk/d4e.bmpThe black is the image i have now. It should replicate down. the blue is an image that shows up if the first image doesn't fill the page and replicates all directions the white is a centered image that does not replicate is that possible? that's no longer a graphic question. =]
