I had created a forum a while ago and gave it the name Marauders Map of Hogwarts. I had someone make a logo and affiliate with that name on it. Then I changed the name of the forum, but the person hasn't responded to the PM I sent them months ago about changing the name, and they don't have their email listed. Would it be possible for someone else to change the text (since I like the image itself), or would I have to get a whole new one made?

It depends on a few things: if they gave you the .psd (or whatever work in progress extension), i'm pretty sure that you'd be able to get that done (unless they specifically said not to).
If you don't, then you may still be able to change the text only, depending on where it was placed and the skill of the editor. It really depends mostly on the image, though, so I'd have to see it to say for certain.

Ah, okay. You can see the image here. The logo is at the top, and the affiliate is in the side table.

The affie image might be easier to edit, as it's relatively dark and if you place the text in the same area, no one will really be able to tell.
The banner image, imo, you should either use the original work-in-progress file to edit, or get a new image. =/

It could always be clone tooled out. Also some of the new CS5 options in photoshop might be able to do it. But I doubt you could get it perfectly.

Precisely. It would take a lot of time and effort and most likely be fairly noticeable. However that new CS5 function might be able to do it almost seamlessly...

I should really get CS5, I get a student discount and it only costs me like $300. Although I digress, that is off topic.

I've used the content-aware fill thing on CS5 and it's not as good as it was said to be. :P It only works decently in professional or very good and specially composed images :< I tried it on your average photo and works pretty poorly, especially when the background behind it changes around the selected area or is generally unrepeating. All the tool really does is copy little pieces of the area and pastes it randomly.

Yea I gave it a stab using cs5 and it didn't work very well, no matter how precisely I masked off the area to be filled. It would probably come out just about perfect using the clone tool since the background is quite heavily structured but that would take rather more time.
