I am making a site. I did the background by hand on Paint.net. Then I uploaded it to Photobucket, and now the picture shows only in tiles on my site. I made the picture big enough, 1024x780. So, why the tiles!? I also resized it on Photobucket to the size of 1024x780. In case, they made the picture smaller. Didn't know where else to turn. I apologize if this is the wrong thread. But, please someone help? x.x; Edit:: Probably help out if you could see what I was talking about. Windwisp Falls

a few reasons - photobucket does resize a bit. check to make sure you're uploading to the 1MB filesize or whatever, and not a pixel size (should be in the 'more options' link or something to that effect under the upload area).
if that's not the case, then your resolution may be larger than 1024x780.
there is no true way, without some sort of tiling, to get an image for your background to fit in all resolutions perfectly. the bigger the image is, the more resolutions it will encompass.
to find out what your resolution is, just go to your desk top, right click, and check the 'properties'. should be under the 'display' tab, presuming you're using a Windows OS.

I'm going to try and resize it again. My resolution is 1024x768, so I have no idea. Though, I didn't know that making the resolution bigger would be better for everyone. Still new to this, so thank you very, very much. xD

Still new to this, so thank you very, very much. xD =] you're welcome. i'll use myself as an example. one of my desktops is set to be at a 1280x1024 resolution. the desktop i'm writing this post from is 1366x768. the larger the image, the more people will be able to view it 'properly' (so if the image was, say 1600x1600, everyone with that resolution and lower will see the image as a whole with no tiling, and with no 'blank' spaces. i also forgot to mention if you don't have a css code in your headers to stop the tiling, it will tile no matter what size image you use (obviously the larger the image is, the less space the repeats will have to cover, so it won't be as noticeable). you may run into issue with image size using free hosts, as many free hosts have limitations on image size as well as file size.

I didn't know that. 0.0 Again, thank you. And, I got it to work once I got frustrated at Photobucket. I used ImageShack and it didn't tile on me. ^^ But, I'm going to resize my background later so, everyone can see it and not have to see the evil tiles of doom. xD Thank you again for your help!

you're welcome! again the image will naturally tile if you don't use CSS to stop it. it just might not be obvious with larger images. if you don't want people to see tiling images, then to be on the safe side, i'd still use CSS to stop the tiling. =]
