Gameplay and Rules
I have sent special role notifications that inform players of their role in the game. All roles have already been chosen, and were completely randomly selected with a 1-20 number generator. (Players' previous roles did not affect their selection this game; it's a completely fresh start, so if you played last game, don't bring your biases, alliances, etc, into another game.
)
The first night phase will then begin immediately. Once that has finished, it will switch to day; once a lynching (or none) has been performed, it immediately transitions back to night, and so on.
NIGHT PHASE:--
Narrator will post to recap the day's lynching, if any, and announce that it is night-time, then PM special roles with instructions.
--
Villagers cannot PM each other or post in this thread. Sleepy time.
All other roles' actions occur simultaneously and privately, with no additional communication allowed during night (ie detective/doctor can't PM villagers with their findings/choice).
--
Four Mafia members will chat via PM, IM, or any other method they choose, selecting a villager to kill. Once they unanimously choose a target, they will notify me.
--
One detective will PM me with the name of the player they wish to investigate, and I will respond to tell them if that individual is a Mafia member or villager (detective does not "discover" special roles of doctor or nurse, if applicable, only alignment).
--
One doctor will PM me with the name of the player they wish to protect from a Mafia killing that night only (one player per night, does not carry over to another night, does not affect lynchings, and it's not a self-sacrifice).
--
One nurse will take over the doctor's role the next night if and only if the doctor is killed.
--If the Mafia and the doctor or nurse choose the same person,
nobody dies that night. If they don't, I'll post about the death, and the game will move to the next day phase.
DAY PHASE:--
All players still alive will decide which one player to lynch on suspicion of being in the Mafia.
--Communication by players still alive is allowed during this phase, privately or in public on the thread.
--When you decide on your final vote, post the name of that player in the thread (along with any justification, etc, you wish). Please
post it in bold so I see it. If you want to retract or change your vote, please also post it in bold. (If it's not in bold and the thread explodes overnight, I can't guarantee I'll catch it.
)
--Vote retraction is allowed
as long as the player you're voting for doesn't have over 50% of the votes.
--Once a 50%+ majority has been attained, that player is immediately killed and vote retraction is no longer allowed. If I'm not online, the player is still killed and it is effectively nighttime.
--A player who has just been lynched is allowed
one simple, sad "bah" post immediately, with no extra gameplay content, hints, pleas, threats, oaths, etc.
After that, you're not allowed to post here or PM players still in the game.
--Once the lynching occurs, it immediately transitions to night again.
In both phases, I will generally stay out of it except when I feel a crucial rules clarification needs to be made, to answer questions posted publicly that won't ruin gameplay, to make judgment calls about rules if absolutely necessary (unlikely, though), and to make narrative death posts. I'm probably lurking and always available by PM, though.
NEW RULES:1. General: Do not take screenshots or videos of your assignment to prove what your role in the game is. Quoting the role PM you received is allowed for strategic purposes, however.
2. Lynching: During the day, once over 50% of the current players vote for a player to be lynched, that person is
immediately killed. Even if I'm not online, the person is still immediately killed; no "vote retraction" is allowed to save someone after the balance has tipped. If you prefer, think of it this way: once the mob reaches that fury of over 50% crying for a lynching, there's no stopping the blind, blood-fuelled rage from filling you. (Note: Vote retraction
is allowed
if a majority has not yet been reached.)
3. No lynching: If no majority vote is reached within 48 hours after a new daytime phase has been announced, there will be no lynching at all, and the game will move into the next night immediately.
If you feel a rule should be added, please PM me. Chances are it will be considered for implementation next game unless it's critical to ensure fair gameplay or fixes some clear mistake I've made with the rules.
These aren't much more extensive than the last game, and they aren't here to make me feel like a demigod: they're all intended to make sure you guys know what you're doing so you can enjoy the game as much as possible without going "OMG HOW DO I PLAY" or "OMG IS THERE A RULE ABOUT THAT?"
If you still have questions about your role, gameplay, etc, you can always PM me.
Have fun lying and lynching! ;D
