I think maybe one of the old egyption or roman type scales would be cool to put in for the little avatars at the side of the different boards, and if you're discussing just American polictics maybe a picture of the Constitution or the American Flag if you are discussing world politics both present and historically you have a lot more to chose from.

Well for one, put some color in. Reds and Blues if you are American. Bronze, Brown, and Gold seem like good politics colors.

If you are for sensitive political issue, i recommend light red, light yellow with a dark brown text.
