Next New templaye mockup

WARNING: This temp is NOT AT ALL DONE everything was done in PS7 boards and all so this is not finished just a basic this is what it might look like JPEG so please any ideas on it so far would be great kinda in a creative block atm

The orbs for new/old topics look a little weird. I'm not sure why there's that rectangular "shine" going down the middle of the orb... if you use PS7 try searching for some tuts that teach you how to make a kickbutt orb

I like the accents with the blue lines, but I think you used too many of them.

And, much nicer background from your previous template. Simple, and nice.

this template is much easier on the eyes, very nice. :] the placeholder text is kinda 'meh' for me, but it is place holder, so no biggie. I definitely echo smangii's sentiments about looking up some orb tutorials; I'll go one step further an suggest a lighting tutorial as well, it feels a bit off to me. :]

other than that, i'd say this is a massive improvement over the last mockup you did, and i am interested in seeing the final product. :]

I'm pretty much with Smangii on this one. But I'd just like to add, to make it look more realistic work on the shading/shine a little more. It'll help give the 3D affect too!

A couple of other small things, work on the font just a little bit. It doesn't really match the theme of the design.

And finally, just work on cleaning some bits up, for example the 'shine' on the orb carries on slightly on to the grey.

Other than that good job!

I was going to comment on the orb(s) but they have been commented on enough (just add some more specular to them - possibly a small one).
The one thing I will properly comment on is the fact that you have a head AND base image. Personally, you don't need both because of the fact they are the same, so it looks "too much"... Dunno how to explain it, but you only need one to separate each category. Or in my opinion you do.

Haha again this is the most basic of all mock ups for a designs font wasnt worked on and the"head/base" images are cat and title BG images ( again not done justy looking for place holders ) just needed opinions on basic design and color nothing except the peices around the forum are close to complete
