What happened to Proboards?

There was a time where you could join a Graphic Design forum, and get your forum rated in the Show-off board. You would simply ask for C&C, and you would get feedback on how to improve your forum. A classic example would be Solid Snake Designs.

Graphic forums today, when you post your forum in the show off board, you get a warning level.

There was a time where you would give suggestions to people that would help improve their forum. They would either choose to accept the advice or disregard it.

Now, you get a warning level.

There was a time when Graphic Design forums had awesome skins, and everybody would go there for graphics.

Now you get a basic skin rustled up by a 2 year old chimpanzee, and only get member activity because they have a wide social network.

Everybody seems to want power. "YOU GIVE ME HARSH FEED BACK, OH NOES YOU POSTED YOUR FORUM IN THE SHOW OFF BOARD NOW I CAN BAN YOU COZ I HAZ POWER YAYZ"

I want the old Proboard community back, where everyone helped each other. People took advice on board, and didn't go in moods and ban people because they didn't like the criticsism they recieved.

If you can't handle C&C, then seriously, you shouldn't have a forum.

Forums these days are an actual joke.

Nice rant, I see that another forum didn't let you do this, or was it advertise? Designerz? Dunno, I don't care if people do, I want to see more graphic forums made by people who can make graphics some people need to learn more

No, I posted my forum in the Show-off board and he gave me one of them warning bars. He also chopped the text off my signature. Via PM, I gave him some advice then he banned me. I was only trying to help the guy out. It was Designerz.

Personally, I find it unbelievably irritating when a new member joins my forum and PMs me with "advice". I wouldn't ban for it, but if you already had a warning on someone's forum, then decided to tell them what to do, you were asking for trouble.

And... their forum, their rules. If you break their rules, you get a warning for it, it doesn't matter what other boards used to do. SSD was a great forum, but not every forum is, or should be, the same. They had their own share of drama and member issues anyway, and the super friendly community you remember - well it wasn't perfect, no forum ever has been.

As for what Daio said, well I've written plenty of posts about that before, but its seems not to be the point of this thread
