Where do you all get the images for borders?I was going to try one on my forum.Maybe a border that would go well with all skins,until I learn how to make them different for each one..Thanks for input.

You don't have to use images. You can just use colors to create a unique look or colors and images. If you opt for images you can either make them yourself if you have a graphics program or if you can't do that you can request they be made for you here. Just read the rules before making a post and give as much detail as you can as to how you want them to look.

I am using the code for border images or colors,with me I thought a nice neutral color to go with all skins would be safest until I learn the harder stuff. Would I use a hex code color?

I'm not sure which border code you are using but if Smangii's then you use one of the classes from your skins for the first and last color and then a hexadecimal for the middle I believe.
If you have side tables you can just add the color there rather than having unnecessary coding like I did in blue below: (The cellpadding is how much of the border you want showing around the perimeter of the forum/sidetables.
<!-- Start Main Table //--> <table align="center" width="900" cellpadding="10" style="background-color: #e0dfcf;" >
