I cant wait for all the features I had previously read about. Including the features that was in the blog, before the new blog took it's place.

Incredible. This is going to wipe the floor with every other forum software out there in my opinion. Can't wait to get my hands on it! (figuratively of course) I disagree. These are good features but other providers already had these features for a while. This is an attempt to keep up with the competition and it certainly will do. Unfortunately... I hope we don't have to wait 3 - 5 years for another version when other providers have sprinted ahead again. On the positive, the avatar maker looks fairly unique and I haven't seen that yet although that's likely because other providers have deemed it too much hard work for what a webcam can do in 5 minutes. All in all, Proboards is now competitive for the moment but please release new versions more often. Rereading my post, it seems I've been a little harsh but you should know that I'm just being honest. I'm objective, not a fanboy. That's ok, it is healthy to disagree. I base my remark on that there are a number of unique features, all exciting and fun, that will make being part of a Proboards forum a far more enjoyable experience than previously, and yes, some of those features are on some other forums etc. but none have them all, or right out of the box, so to speak. At least not to my knowledge they don't.

One question for the Beta or Alpha testers (or Admin!) has occurred to me - the 'like' system looks good, I use Wonder's one on my own forum and it is a brilliant feature. Does the V5 version give you a notification of when somebody 'likes' one of your posts?
<fingers crossed, hopes>

I am EXTREMELY excited to partake in the V5 beta! I can't wait. I want to give a shout out to ALL PROBOARDS STAFF -- I am so appreciative and graciously thankful for all that you do for the huge community of followers. As for everyone who keeps chanting ''And, it's free!" .. You're absolutely right about this when comparing PBs to the other expensive services. Personally, my forum is ad-free and has been for nearly 5 years. I couldn't imagine it any other way and to be quite honest. It may not be much, but I feel good having the ability to contribute on a monthly basis.
With respect to all those inside the beta at this time, how's the 'Search' feature? I find that the current one is terrible at best. Sorry, but I just feel like it has never had the ability to pull up anything you're looking for no matter how you put it into the search bar. From reading the breakdown on it, it seems like it's MUCH MORE accurate and user friendly. Is it?
Again, thank you to the entire staff for all your hard work .. including, the BEST SUPPORT FORUM ON THE PLANET. You're simply, 2ND to none.
*Cheers*

All comments about the new search system are totally positive. Am yet to see one to the contrary. It has to be fast since we advertise it as live search, where as you type the results appear

Ha!
I like that HopeFaithLove says the features Pat announced makes us even with the competition. Perfect since Patrick displayed about 10% of the innovations and new features that v5 contains.
There are two more major phases before launch. No one outside of the staff knows anything about the admin area (my personal favorite part of v5). Plus there's about a dozen live features in beta that weren't even mentioned in this thread. And a ton of hidden features.
I'm feeling pretty confident no one will touch us for a few years. And to answer HopeFaithsLove's suggestion/opinion about the 3-5 year wait between versions, we did release v4.5 and Pat operated the company for a long time entirely by himself. We now have a growing staff of 9 people. I think you can count on regular updates, improved customer service (even though we're already number 1 for free forums) and so many awesome things coming that I can't even hint at.
It's safe to say we're the best free forum host. Pretty easy to say we're the best forum host. And for anyone who disagrees with that I just need to say, stick around and watch what's coming I'm sure you'll change your mind. ;D

Here is a more-detailed answer I missed where it was answered? It read like notifications were for tagged posts and replies etc. I was wondering (hoping!) it would apply to the Like system also. Thanks for confirming though! PS any more sneak peeks...?
