Is that old Mr. Willy? Looks a little.....different............ It is the MUCH BETTER version. Seconded. I feel like the new one is just a Michael Jackson video. Surely im not the only one who sees the similarity haha

I agree the version with Gene Wilder is the better one. The newer one sucks.
*attempts to get back on topic*
I have to say v5 seems to be a tad babyish. Before, we could freely code up our forum how we wanted, v5 sounds like it just does it for us. What's more, the graphics and coding forums out there, which contain codes from v4.5 down, do they have a purpose anymore?
v5 seems to me, like it's aimed at newcomers more than people who are already here. Everything just seems to be already done. I'm curious to know what the new administration panel looks like now, and how the headers/footers will function.
Having said that, there are a few features that I like from what has been shown - the like feature and notifications, which both remind me of Facebook, the avatar system which reminds me of Yahoo! Pulse, and the @username feature, from Twitter and Facebook. The new conversation system is good.

Since when was taking out some of the effort needed for something, as well as making it more flexible, a bad thing? As for the graphics and coding forums, they will simply be offering more advanced codes that can do things deemed too difficult if not impossible to do in v4.5 I'm looking forwards to seeing what it really is like too though.

My understanding is the new system is far more flexible than the old for people who like to code their forums to get a specific look/feel. Of course I am on the outside looking in, as are the Beta testers in a way (no access to the admin side as yet) so it remains to be seen if this is true or not. Perhaps a member of Admin can tell us just how flexible V5 is going to be?

Now, instead of skins, will be themes, which you can add HTML to. Also, I heard that the admin panel will have lots of options (they are not even done making the admin panel yet ) that almost anything can be done to the forum. Again, just what I've heard

This is really really bad. The design is bad for one. Scanlines? who designed this thing? plus forum = social network now? T_T
I registered an account today because I deleted my account and left proboards about 3 years ago. I had been a member since 2004. It's just really sad that nothing original could be thought up to make proboards special and different this version and just instead copied every generic social network out there and crammed it into its forum software.
I wish you good luck because this is completely crap.

missing out on a hybrid of twitter + tumblr + yahoo groups + facebook crammed into what once was the best forum software out there?
No thank you.
I haven't had any desire to visit a proboards forum in over 3 years so I really don't think I'm missing out on anything.
California is probably rolling in his grave right now.
I weep for this company. Sad to see the sinking ship. Except I'm not going to sink with it.
Goodbye all.

I personally think that taking the best features of some of the other social networks out there and 'cramming them' into one place is not a bad thing per se - as long as it creates a unique, closed environment where members can interact in a meaningful way. Which is, I suspect, what Proboards is trying to achieve.

Visual EditorDo you wish you knew what your post would look like without having to hit that Preview button? Our new Visual Editor allows you to see exactly what your post will look like while you create it! Our editor comes with all the regular options that you are used to and even some new ones. Check it out! WYSIWYG? Pretty much? I'm curious if this feature will be something that can be set (via individual members' profiles) so that if one person prefers the visual editor over the BBCode editor it will be loaded/selected as default. I hope that made sense.
