While about 95% of people like the dev theme, 5% are upset that it doesn't look like the forum in their heads. And they are very insistent that the final version be what they want, not what most people like.

Also you haven't seen shiny yet. Wait until I add lens flares everywhere! It's going to be like a JJ Abrams nightmare. And I'm thinking yellow text on orange backgrounds for all posts. And maybe some sort of animated gif background that is tiled everywhere. And I'm going to translate everything into Klingon on all forums...

At least one beta tester will take all of the above seriously, no matter how much I explain that we have no default theme yet.

and I hope it's worth the wait a few beta testers I've spoken to (who shall remain nameless) told me it wasn't what they anticipated and are very disappointed (which I guess ties into Ryan's post).

Too many people have fixated themselves on the design which is not being tested at this point. The whole beta process is to test the features, and file bug reports etc. You cant really test or file bug reports on a design, you can only look and provide feedback. Its a little different.

So far as im aware, noone is disappointing in the features they have used, just some dont like the design

Oh, they never specified what they were complaining about just said "They make it sound better than it actually is".

But from what I see in screenshots the design actaully looks pretty nice :/, I guess everyone can't be happy we all have something to complain about.
