I hope I'm today and I hope it's worth the wait a few beta testers I've spoken to (who shall remain nameless) told me it wasn't what they anticipated and are very disappointed (which I guess ties into Ryan's post). but I'm sure you guys did a great! job I don't know what you're expecting, but there is nothing to be disappointed about with v5. Is it an entire new creation never seen before on the internet? No. Is it gonna replace MyFace, Spacebook, and Apple? No. Is it a forum system that beats any current competing product, free or paid? yes, by a long way. v5 is still a forum system and if you think its gonna be anything other than that, then yeah, it won't be what you think. But its a forum system with tonnes of new features, improvements, and upgrades, to the point nothing else comes close.

That's all I needed to hear (: The people I talk to who are v5 testers (who I won't name) tell me its nothing special, Only a few cool features, the staff make it sound better than it is, the list goes on and on. So I just wondered if they were correct, if they were I was going to stop waiting. But I can't Judge it because I haven't seen it except for screenshots, and it looks pretty good. Maybe they were expecting more I don't know :b.

I would also like to add that V5 is still being improved on a daily (hourly? Minutely(!)?) basis. Features are being reviewed and added weekly (at least) and I for one raise a glass (and a cup cake) to the coders and designers of this brave new forum.

I can see where the disappointment in the initial 'look' of the forum comes from however; it's only when you start digging that you realise just what a quantum leap this is over previous versions and, dare I say it, anything else out there.

So I just wondered if they were correct, if they were I was going to stop waiting. But I can't Judge it because I haven't seen it except for screenshots, and it looks pretty good. Maybe they were expecting more I don't know :b. Well, its still a forum system, and the basics of it are that you log in and you read threads and you post messages. But then you start to realize that despite the familiarity there's a lot more to v5 than the first impression suggests. For example, UBBC. Want to make your quotes colored, or put a nice background on that table? Totally possible, with no extra coding needed. Or PMs. Ever had to wait a week for someone to reply to a message, only for them not to quote, so you aren't entirely sure what they're replying to? v5 shows you a proper conversation history - and you can add participants to the conversation, or forward the message onto a mod if needed. Or the forum jump. Its gone. Instead, the navtree is like a super improved version of it, making it really simple to jump from board to board. And those are just existing features that have been improved. New stuff, such as being able to able to "like" posts, add friends, tag people in posts.... none of it is, by itself, a huge leap forwards. But each little addition makes the forum that little bit better, and overall what you end up with is forum software that's powerful, user friendly, and feature packed. There's always gonna be a few people who are impossible to please with a new product. Sometimes people find one thing they don't liker about a product, and base their entire opinion on that one thing; other times people just don't like new stuff, or prefer to stick with what they know; and sometimes people just take a while to realize how cool something new is. That shouldn't stop you being excited about it.

And I am super excited about v5 But when people start talking negative about it it drains my energy and makes my brain go "oh, I'll listen to that person" its how I've always been :b.
