[RD] Custom Favicon Not Working

Hey everyone, I'm the webmaster over at The Greyson Chance Forum and I recently tried installing a custom Favicon code but it doesn't seem to be working.

I am using the following script-

There is something wrong with the image link you have in there. I pasted it in my browser and a bunch of coding gobble-de-goop showed up instead of the image. Also you shouldn't have ubbc code in there so you'd need to remove that [a href=" and "] and [/a] bit.

To top it off, the host you are using may be an issue as well because I just uploaded a ico image and have it here and although it is working in FF it doesn't seem to want to work in IE and Chrome (even after deleting my cookies/history/closing the browser)whereas I have the very same image uploaded to my ripway account, pasted it on this test site and it works in all three browsers and right off the bat.

The code I used on your host:

On my host:

I'm not sure what went wrong with your image. Maybe save it as a png to start with and then covert it online to an ico image, save it to your desktop, and then try rehosting it. The standard size of the image should be 16x16.

Thanks! I didn't realize I had that ubbc in there, The host didn't provide a direct link so I just stole it out of an a different provide code and must of overlooked those tags.

Yep your right, it was actually the image I uploaded that was the issue. Not sure why, PhotoShop didn't save it correctly/corrupted it. Used the converter you linked too with a png version of the image and re-uploaded the converted one back on PicPanda (I don't usually use that host but they were the first I found that supports icon files.

And now the image is small so I need to make a new one anyway

Actually, the one you have looks awesome but maybe that is your bigger version. Regardless, it looks gooooood.

Oh, and I did the same thing, pulled the direct link out of one of the other codes.

Yeah the one up right now is the new one.

Here is the one I was originally going to use-



But when it was shrunken down you just couldn't make out what it was without straining your eyes at it.

So I settled for this-


The discoloration is due to that I stretched the text because I wanted it wider but not taller which I couldn't do by just increasing font size, so it distorted it of course but I used a sharpen tool which did sharpen it but added the discoloring, but you can't even notice it when it is shrunken down to favicon size. Although I could of easily just added a color layer and made it the solid color I was using originally, but, why fix something that isn't broken I guess

Both images are actually 48x48, which is what a lot of the sites are recommending for some future new standard or whatever.

Awww, too bad, that first one was even cooler. But what you have now looks very nice and more importantly, it's working!
