Emoticon Size Question

I'm making emoticons for a Proboards admin, who happens to be unavailable to contact for the next week. Rather than sit around idle, I shall ask my questions here:

What is the maximum size for a custom emoticon? What is the maximum number of frames?

I'm pretty sure there is no maximum size. It all depends on which host you upload to, and what file size they allow. Obviously though, you want as small as possible so they don't take too long to load etc.
