A Few Questions on Global

What is this Global Profile and Global Login. And how to we edit the global Profile.

If Im not mistaken when it is said in done it will kinda be like the MY FORUMS area in the mobile app so to speak ?

I'm not sure about the global Profile, but the Global Login is a way to easily switch to any of your PB forum accounts (on any forum, or within the same forum) with just 2 clicks. you can even view the forum as a guest, then go back to your account, quickly.

With our new system you will only have to login once and you will have access to all your ProBoards forums. Registering at new forums takes about 10 seconds (maybe less depending on the captcha ). Further, we will keep track of forums you are a member of for you -- no more forgetting the URL to those forums you've joined. Plus a lot more

do you have to have the same email or the same user name for the global login

The global login system uses email addresses for simplicity (there is no longer a need to remember 50 different usernames for different forums)

So I just thought of a new question. When are we going to be able to add forums other then support to the global login. Also how do we edit our global profile ?

1) when forum are upgraded to V5 (we will eventually have the option to upgrade out forums early, so you could add those when the admins do upgrade)

2) eventually they'll add the ability to edit the global login account info.

Richie is correct.

Right now there is only one v5 forum. So that's the only one you can link accounts to. Though you can link multiple accounts from the v5 forum to your single global account right now. Once other forums start upgrading to v5 you'll be able to link accounts to the global system.

There are lots of plans for the global system and profile. Most of these are very secret right now but I promise they are awesome. Be assured that you will be able to edit and manage your global profile, including changing your password and other things. ;D

Will this speak for 'all previous forums' a person has registered with or will this tracking only begin after v5 has officially been released?

Once v5 launches you will link any accounts you have to your global account. It is not automatic. We don't want to assume that a person wants all their accounts with the same email currently to be attached to one account. They can decide which accounts to link where.

To clarify; the first time you attempt to login in v5 with any account you will either upgrade to a new global account or link to an existing one. That part is automatic, but the decision between the two is yours. You will have to pick one or the other.

No, they are designed very differently.
