I have a few questions similar in some ways to the other thread but different too.
I have current skins now, I'm using the current default images is there any reason I should stop colorizing them to match my color schemes?
Will my color schemes and styling come through on the updates ?

We're still working on the system that will eventually handle this.
We intend for colors from v5 skins to convert over to a simple color palette for a v5 theme. Essentially your colors would be preserved and applied to a simple theme that you could then customize.
This is still all early and we haven't actually worked on it yet. So no promises. I'm just mentioning our goals with the skin to theme conversion. Once we get the Easy Theme Creator in v5 built I'll have a much better idea of how it will actually end up working.

Thanks for the info Ryan, WE will still be able to create using hex codes right? just not in easy theme? The theme creator that currently exists in v5 uses hex codes (we even have color pickers to assist you). The extra themes made by our developers that are in v5 right now were made using the new v5 theme maker. The Easy Theme Creator is the only remaining theme tool that we haven't worked on yet. And you are correct, it will not use hex codes directly, there will be premade palettes to choose from. You can then take those themes and customize them further in detail if you wish.

Im just curious because Im fine using hex codes and such. I am going through all the updated new images and colorizing those not replaced to match my scheme and I just didn't want it to be a waste of time, If my colors were gonna get a bit shot in the conversion.

The goal is to preserve what we can. Hex codes are something we will definitely find a way to make sure you have, because we realize people spend a lot of time making complex palettes for their forums.

Is the image map/color picker broader and easier to navigate this time? Because I was very irritated with the current one, when trying to make a skin, so I resorted to using a color scheme designer and it took for ever to convert all of the colors into ProBoards format, attempt to fit it all into the layout, etc., etc.. Also, from what I've seen of the Advanced Theme creator, it's all purely in CSS, correct? If that is so, are the class names the same as they are in v4?

The color picker is the same one you can play with in the avatar maker. So yes it's about a million times better than the v4 color chart.
v4 color chart - 216 colors v5 color picker - 16777216 colors
77672 TIMES BETTER TECHNICALLY!!!
The "Advanced Section' is actually 2 sections.
Section 1 - Template Modification - You can literally rewrite the layout of pages. Section 2 - CSS - Direct Access to the actual CSS file for your forum. Go crazy!
Class names may or may not be the same. V5 was coded completely from scratch, so odds are the class names won't be the same unless they are something completely obvious. We do our best to name things what they should be named. Assuming something only has one name and is the same element in both it could have the same name.

Cool. Thanks, Ryan! :3 Something tells me I'm going to seriously enjoy this v5 Theme thing. CSS, here I come! When the next stage comes.
