I had an idea. Not sure if anyone else had this input but here goes. One of the most irritating things on forums such as RPG forums is the application. Some forms are just plain text where you copy the code and fill in the blanks. But some forums such as ours want something other than just a plain boring app. So they put their own spin in it such as giant fonts or colors or blockquote or whatever. But the problem is, the more code you add to make it look fancy when you hit reply, the more confusing it looks to the players trying to fill the thing out. I know for some its easy you just post between the brackets. But some players are like 13 or 14 years old that have no idea how to navigate the lines of script and put the info in all wrong. Then the admins have to tell them to fix it or do it themselves. What I would love to see is a fully admin edible code that lets you put in any sort of color, font size or whatever beforehand. So when you hit reply a field will come up and the players just fill in the slots. Sort of like what this code does. support.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=codedatabase&action=display&n=1&thread=70752Only when you hit reply instead of just plain text in bold it comes out in the format you would like. Ive been trying to mess with this code to get it to work but to no avail. We would also need a slot so players can post the url to the characters image. Thanks!!

Greetings, For one, the post editor in PBV5 is a What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) editor, meaning that styles can be seen live, rather than as UBBC tags (though you can still access the BBCode if you like). As for an actual template, this probably won't be a built in feature as it is a very specific thing, however I would think that custom pages would have the ability to provide a template (form) that then could be submitted to the posting field. - RedBassett

There are two differeent features that can help you with the application process in v5.
Custom Pages
You could build a form right into a webpage with fields and everything you want and need. You could decorate it just like you would building a website from scratch. You can't really ask for more freedom than that.
Private Boards
You can make a board where new users can create threads and apply to join, or fill out your application. Moderators of the board can see all the threads in the board. But any non moderators can only see their own threads. Meaning you could create a group that reviews applications and even conducts interviews. People submitting their applications can't see anyone else's threads so they can't copy or see the interviews going on.

I hope V5 comes out soon!

On this same note, would there be any way to use in v5 and have it as a post form. Say, for example, if the form was like this: Name: [Typing Box Here] which would place the text put in by the member into a certain area of the code, and making it into an entirely different format.

Also with the custom page, say you make it appear after the registration process. And you have all these fields. Would you be able to choose what thread this stuff appears in?

That completely depends on how you build the custom page. I'm sure some people will get very creative with how they gather the form data or even how they design a page that takes you directly into post creation as part of the registration process. The solutions to the problems are in your hands, we are just providing the tools.
