Is there a program out there/what is the program that i can use to help create different icons. i can only find icons, for desk tops, but what i have referring too is the table links such as "home, new topics help search members" etc. There are many out there, including on photobucket or other websites like that, but i can not find a good set that i like, and i also would just like to know how to make them myself with different font styles. any help would be much appreciated

As far as software, I'm not aware of any programs especially made to design buttons and icons. However, if you want to put a little bit of time into learning how to use G.I.M.P. - it basically has all of the features Photoshop in a generic concept. Here's a link if you're interested: Click. And here's a tutorial to go along with it to make sleek gloss buttons- which can be implemented after you add your textures/images. Click.Otherwise, if you're looking for something quick.. You could try this website for swift button generation: Click.

ButtonGenerator will ensure that your buttons are ugly and you have a limit to customizing them, which is why I'm telling you that you should probably use some software like GIMP which is free and create your own buttons.
Or just get a button pack from somewhere.

Or just get a button pack from somewhere. Indeed, I agree. If you're looking for full satisfaction for free, G.I.M.P. is your best bet. You can also use it for other graphic constructing purposes. Creating objects in a comprehensive graphics program does take the time and effort; its benefits are valuable though. Imagine: all the work done by you. No waiting on a designer to fill a request- or posting threads like this. Anyway, whatever you may choose; I wish you well in your pursuit of graphic endeavors.
