Some forums have the function to do this. I think it's a great idea. If someone is hassling you, stalking you, bullying you and generally being a nuisance by making 'snidey', 'spammy' little comments to everything you or anyone else posts, you can ignore them and their posts with the click of a button.
I think it would be a bonus if, by default, once you've 'ignored' them, they cannot see your posts either.
I appreciate that forum staff members [on any forum] are busy and on occasion, it's impossible to deal with every little gripe that occurs when it occurs. This would be the perfect solution for those members that wish to resolve the problem themselves without having to bother staff. It would be like a 'virtual' restraining order
I, for one, like to feel 'comfortable' when visiting a discussion forum. Obviously there's going to be disagreements and sometimes things can get heated, this is perfectly normal. The problem arises when some members don't know when to stop and will follow and attack certain members wherever they go.

Unfortunately this is not how the Block Feature will work. It's not up to normal members to decide which content other people are allowed to see. The options we do include which can each be individually controlled are the following: 1) Hide this member's posts. 2) Do not let this member start new conversations with me. 3) Do not let this member follow me or my activities. 4) Block notifications from this member. 1 - Hiding the member's posts minimize them from your view so that you can skip right past them in a thread. You have the option to expand them for continuity purposes if you need to understand whats happening in the thread. It is a block for you to not have to see what they are saying. Quotes are not filtered since they hold relevance to another member's reply. 2 - We do give the option to prevent the member from starting new conversations with you. Since your inbox isn't as public as the rest of the forum we give you the control to block new conversations from being sent to you. 3 - We also prevent them from following you in your profile or viewing your activity feed. In this way you are harder to follow. 4 - And lastly, as it says, prevent notifications relating to the member from popping up for you. When you post on a board that the member has access to, that is public information. As I said above we are not going to give regular members the ability to limit each other's ability to access public information. The block ability is for your convenience and not having to interact with the person. It is not a moderation ability that allows you to restrict what others can and cannot do or see in the public space. Sorry.

Oh, I didn't realise you already had a block feature in the pipeline Ryan. It's not really what I was hoping for, but it'll help to alleviate the problem immensely.
Thank you

Not in the pipeline. In v5.
Go to anyone's profile in v5 and in the gearbox drop down, in the upper right, you can click Block.
Or go to your own Profile, click Edit Profile, go to the Privacy tab and scroll down. Member Block List.

Already in v5, not going to be rolled out in v4. Time we spend adding things to v4 could be spent getting to v5 launch and that's much more a goal for everyone I think. EDIT Can you still pm those that you choose to block from pming you? You can still PM them, unless they block you. And it doesn't prevent PMing. It prevents new conversations from being started. Existing conversations are unaffected since there could be more than just the two of you in it. You can leave a conversation at any time if you want.
