There is nothing which currently exists that would not be able to be replicated in the new version. Everything currently doable, will still be doable and more
With regards to enhanced UBBC. The built in UBBC is far superior.
It allows everything from tables with different colored cells, colspans, divs with various attributes etc.
Also v5 will not affect coders in a bad way. It will affect them in a good way as their work will be easier to make new codes.
You will have direct HTML access to the pages, so you just change the parts you want rather than needing JavaScript to hunt and change certain parts.
There will still be a header/footer system though for those that prefer the more classic way of editing things.

I think, essentially, the answer about posting templates is that it's still doable, and you'll be able to create more, but you might have to change the current templates from following whatever system the code uses to whatever system proboards will have built in. :]

Will there be support for all CSS properties, or will some get filtered out? And, will pseudoclasses like :hover, :empty, etc. be supported at all? I know this is being picky but it could be a make-or-break kinda thing for me.

You can define your own CSS.

You can define your own CSS. Within an individual post? I think that's what's being referred to. There are things like these posting templates that via code basically allow you to use HTML / CSS in a post.

ProBoards has not shown any intent to limit the CSS that can be used. You will be able to define CSS for almost anything on the page. The template itself may take some help from a coder, but anything that can be done now will be possible in V5.

I took a quick look at your posting templates, and I see no reason why this system couldn't be replicated in v5. In fact, with the new plugin system and template control we give you, you could even improve it so you have access to all posting templates on the posting page, so you don't have to copy/paste every time.
Also, there will be a period of time (BetaZone) where you can experiment with a copy of your forum running the v5 software, to try out all the new features and get everything set up to provide a seamless transition to your users.

This is all confusing. x--x I know that you guys are trying to make things easier for everyone, but for people like me this entire thing is kind of an annoyance. I haven't even opened my board and only recently gotten the skin the way I wanted it. Is this something that is happening soon? Or will it happen later? I am going to be honest here, I have already attempted to move my forum elsewhere today but Invisionfree confuses the crud out of me! I have branched out and started skinning my own sites not long ago and I have barely gotten a hold of the way Proboards works as is. I get that it's going to make things easier. . . I guess my question is, how much will change about the codes? Will it be terribly hard to edit the ones I currently have to where it will look exactly the way it does now? I do not want to finish my board in the upcoming months just to restart the skin again and I'd much rather stay here on Proboards. I don't know what it is about the internet, but people on here hate change. o---o b

Codes will become 10x simpler than they are now. With our plugins system, you won't even need to touch codes -- you will get a visual "Settings" page where you can customize the different options that codes have. It will be much simpler. And like I said, if you have any problems, our support team will be there to assist you along the way. Patrick

Okay, well thanks for the quick response. If it really is that much easier then maybe when it releases I'll just make a new skin. Might need to anyways to try all the cool stuff. xD I really like the idea of seeing it update real-time. Sometimes, while editing my skin, it's like the save button is a bomb detonator and when I click it everything explodes. >.>;;
I look forward to messing around with it. Thanks for clearing that up. Hopefully I don't derp it up. o--o b
