HTML5/JQuery Diagram Suggestions

For work I have been tasked with building a front-end tool (in HTML5, I am choosing to use JQuery for AJAX and XML handeling) to display a bunch of nodes and the relationships among them.

Essentially I need to be able to select a node, and see that node with all the nodes it is linked to, in a visual form (kinda like a flow chart). Clicking on another node will make it the active node, and refresh the display. Would be highly preferable to have animated transitions between views.

Any recommendations for libraries or frameworks I should look into?

There are a lot of libraries out there, the only ones I have heard of, and that come up quite often in recommendations are these 3.

www.jgraph.com/mxgraph.html (not free)

There are others, but some are just hard to work with.

Failing them, you could write yourself a library to handle vector graphics, there are a lot of tutorials / samples out there to get you started.
