Skin Critique?

So I am looking for a critique of my work in progress board known as Story.
I just would like your opinions on how it looks, the banner the skin colors ETC. The site is no where near done so just try to ignore any grammar mistakes you might find. I haven't fine tuned it yet.

Actually, I like it. I know some would say the background distracts but in this case it is pretty cool and although very noticeable at first, you start focusing on the boards/side tables. I also like how the boards scroll almost making it a 3d affect but not quite.

What does bother me a bit are the on/off icons. They continue to take my eye away from what I should be looking at. Maybe they should have cleaner lines verses the "fuzzy" look.

With that background graphic it is right-heavy. Just wondering of the banner text would look better left aligned. Hmmmm. I'd have to see it that way to know for sure. I don't know, maybe something you could try. I guess the empty left side bothers me a bit.

But I'd have to say that background graphic is what makes the site, no doubt. Very cool graphic.

Since the banner seems to be a 510 x 183 sized image, she could always just play with the text on the image itself to stick it on the far left of the transparency rather than in the center?

I think it looks very well done. The background is a bit trippy at first, but in a good way. Everything looks very clean and crisp. The only major complaint I have, which is a personal reference, is that the board is very narrow. This makes long posts seem extremely long. Other than that, I would honestly make myself a new forum just to use your skin. It is on my favorites list all ready. You picked out very nice colors that work well together and with the background image, it doesn't make things either too simple or too complex. You get an A+ from me.

Thanks to calisphere, I realized I didn't respond after the changes you made. I do like the banner over to the side.

I really don't think you need to do much more as it looks good as it is but if it were me, I'd maybe try to add a tiny, tiny touch more of purple on the left side, (for balance) ,like maybe a left border in the title like I did below in purple. I don't know, maybe you could think of some creative touch to add to the left but then again, any thing added to the left may just look bad.

I'd definately would add the blue the the very first side table (only) to bring it even with the forum: (You'd need to adjust the 26px)

I just am not crazy abut black backgrounds.They are very common,and makes me not want to linger and read what is going on in the roll playing.black is kinda blah IMO The rest of the set up is nice.

ps I would make the background a light purple to go with the skin.
