I apologise if this has already been said somewhere.
I really like how some forum hosts allow you to like or heart posts as well as follow threads, so you get notified if someone likes your post or replies to a thread you’re following. It’s really helpful in keeping track of things and it’s nice to know when something you’ve posted is appreciated etc.

I remember suggesting the like feature a while back, but I honestly can't remember what the response was for it. Hoping if it was a no, they may have changed their mind.

I love the idea of liking posts! I can't remember how many times I'm on a thread and don't really want to participate (or say the same thing four hundred people have already said), where I find myself looking for a like button... Only to remember there isn't one on the posts.

Greetings, Liking of posts already exists in V5. As for bookmarking there is a bookmark features, but not sure how the notifications form it work. You can test all of these features out by creating an account or logging into the demo V5 forum found at v5.proboards.com.

hahahahaha omg, I was thinking of the fact I had suggested a "thank you" system, so you thank a post by someone and then it says in their profile and/or mini profile:
Thanks: 37,617 Thanked 95,271 Times in 6,972 Posts
Thanks = the amount of thanks they have given. Thanked is the amount of times they have been thanked by people.

ProBoards already has this, in the form of karma.

I think they mean it should be something like that, but the number increases only when someone likes a post.

I will let a ProBoards staf member take the conversation from here, however while I understand what you are requesting, how would this avoid redundancy with the existing karma system? (Or are you suggesting this as an addition to the existing karma system?)

I would suggest having it as an addition to the karma system, it would be totaled from the amount of liked posts someone has and it can't be taken away unless someone unlikes the post. So i a sense its a bit nicer than the karma system because you cant take away someones karma if you dont like them etc etc. Might help reduce unfair smiting.

You can follow a thread by bookmarking it. When it is updated a notification bubble will appear at the top of the forum notifying you it has updated. You can also have it email you when a thread you have bookmarked is updated.
The like system already exists. You can like posts just by clicking the like button at the top.
We are tracking the total number of likes members have as well as the total number of likes posts have. You can see how many likes a post has just by viewing the post. Currently member totals are private. We have not made final decisions on what we are going to do with the likes. There will likely be a few achievements based off of likes though.
We have removed the karma system, though people will likely create replacements for it as well as other systems like your thanks idea above. In v5 there is no smiting, as there is no dislike. We don't like the negativity of a dislike feature and will not include it by default.
There is also already a notification for when someone likes your posts. You can enable this is you want to receive notifications for likes.
