Suggestion For Site Directory

My site : Broadcast Your Site

Purpose: To promote other sites, as well as mine, as far as enhancement, members that are active and just be the best we can be! I do not allow the advertisement of businesses, porn,adult, or violent boards.

But my only "con" about the Site Directory is there really is not a proper forum for that type of board!
Is it possible to make one? I am not really satisfied where mine is located in the directory in the news section.

you can change the category you want it to be in by going to your Admin CP, and click on "ProBoards Forum Directory"

Oh I know, but there's no category for that type of site?!

unfortunately, there aren't any plans that i'm aware of for proboards to add more categories. perhaps they might do that in the future.

I changed it but in the process, had to delete my entry and start all over due to having the wrong icon ...leave it to me to screw it up! lol But anywho, I now have it in family, but that still is not right but better than where it was.

At some point we plan to expand and improve the directory significantly. We will add more categories and possibly even sub categories. We will allow forums to give themselves tags (up to 5) which can also be searched and sorted. There may even be rankings as well as many sorting options to help members find active forums, the biggest or smallest forums. We may feature new forums when they reach a certain age (like a month) or a certain number of members after being created. We have lots and lots of ideas regarding this and really want to focus on helping forums grow and do well.

All of the above is still just hypothetical and nothing is guaranteed. Nothing is promised. But remember with the new global login system it is very easy to be a member on many forums with many accounts. We want to encourage growth of forums. When admins do better, we do better. It's all about improving the community. So many people right now might only be members of one forum for one interest they have, they might not even be aware that there are other forums out there, and those forums might be all about other things they are into. Someone on a sports forum might have no idea there's a really great automotive forum on ProBoards as well. And in v5 it will just be 2 clicks to jump from one forum to the other through the global login.

We are also aware that some admins are very private and very defensive about the growth of their forums. We already have many options to prevent or monitor signups for these admins. We also will take them into consideration when planning features for the directory.
