Can we remove that from our own forums? I hate when things follow me.

That is a placeholder for the Global Login bar and is not the final design. It won't be something you can modify, though it will have a minimize button on it that will allow it to not bother you.

So, it will follow us by default? And forum owners have no control over that?

As I said it's not the final design, it's a placeholder. It is the ProBoards toolbar for your Global Login. It's what allows you to switch accounts and forums in just 2 clicks. There are also other features we have planned for it. But as I said it will have a minimize button to hide it when you don't want to use it. It isn't part of the forum, so forum owners won't be able to control it. The same way they can't control the secure login system now. It is part of ProBoards. That is not what the final bar will look like in both design and size. It may have customization options when we are done. So each person may be able to pick from a preset list of themes for it to meet their own personal preference. All of this is still a work in progress and everything is subject to change.

It's not part of the forum? It's invading our forum's real estate lol. v4.5 didn't have these things.

It's not part of the forum? It's invading our forum's real estate lol. v4.5 didn't have these things. It is very small as far as real estate goes. As I already said twice already this is not the final design. The final one could be half the size of the placeholder (or even bigger) but we are aware that it takes up space and we aren't going to let it be huge and cumbersome. It serves a very important function. v4.5 didn't have these things because v4.5 wasn't advanced enough. We opted for a small hover toolbar instead of a full width header. I also mentioned twice that it will have a minimize option. I've designed a few prototypes for the bar already and one that I really like is only 24 x 16 pixels. For reference that's about half the size of this button. This bar would stay collapsed until you hovered over it and then would expand with the options on it. Or maybe we'll decide we want it expanded by default (like it is now) and you can change a setting in your global profile to have it minimized by default if you want. Like I said it's all still being worked on. I've attached an example image showing you a size comparison. The bar does not take up real estate and won't affect forums negatively. It is designed improve the ProBoards experience. Not diminish it. Everyone is a member of the ProBoards community. We want to serve them as best we can. In the attached image I even outlined a potential bar at 300px wide. Even at that size of the bar is only 1.1% of the display real estate at the 1024x768 resolution (the minimum supported v5 resolution). And most people have displays much larger that our minimum resolution. The minimized bar is only 0.058% of the real estate. That's one twentieth of a percent.I promise you it won't be an inconvenience. It will be a helpful tool designed to improve forums and the forum experience. I don't think they can stop you from changing how it looks. Same way we can't stop you editing ads Chris? The bar will not be in the template and if we decide it can't be modified then it won't be. I personally will be designing with the users in mind. I would love to give people some options regarding the bar in their global profiles. Does it start minimized? Maybe they can pick from some preset colors and pick how they want to see it. It's a global element, not a forum element. At best that makes it user controlled, not admin controlled. If it can be customized it will be by the user.

I understand the importance of it and being controlled by PB, don't get me wrong.

O.o Also, can we force it to stay down; i.e. will it use cookies to save how it appears to different users?

Apparently, only users can minimize it. Forum owners have no control.

about half the size 67% if you want to get technical. I was giving an estimation. I never assume the person I'm talking to understands pixels. Since you were so persistent in your worry about the screen real estate and the bar I assumed you hadn't already measured potential bars. You seem quite concerned for someone who apparently knows how to measure images in pixels. The bar expanded or minimized will not be overly large. End of story. Dylan If you're going to correct me at least get your numbers right. I said " about half" I wasn't aware that everyone would take that as an invitation to try and correct me. People need to read more.
