Disable lines of code

This is a request for the ACP

So say your in headers/footer and you want to get rid of a code for a short while but have it for later.

I was thinking it could be cool to be able to Highlight that section of code and select to disable it for how ever long you want.

This is one reason we urge members to use plugins in v5 and not headers and footers. You can toggle plugins on an off with the click of your mouse.

Plugins already do the functionality you request. Create a plugin for each of your codes. Then turn them on or off as you wish. You can even set permissions, so you could turn them off for everyone but certain members or set them to only work on certain themes. There are dozens of reasons to use plugins for your codes.

Does that code let you set permissions by member group and apply to specific themes? Does it let you enter settings for codes without needing to interact with actual code? Does it have a friendly user interface for adjusting settings?

The point is Headers and Footers are obsolete, we want to remove them entirely since you can accomplish everything and more with Plugins, but we know people would complain if we did that. Once v5 launches people are going to find that Headers and Footers just aren't useful next to the Plugins. It's like I set up an XBox 360 next to an Atari. Sure the Atari still plays games and it might even be fun from time to time, but in reality why would you ever use that when you can play games, go online, watch movies and interact with friends on the 360? That's H&F vs Plugins.

Most importantly, your code also wouldn't work in v5 since the admin area does not use the headers and footers, to prevent people from breaking their forums. So placing a code to affect them won't work. Hence using plugins to turn codes on and off; plus everything else I mentioned above is the solution.

I wasn't trying to crush your dreams.

I just wanted him to know that your code won't work in v5 but we do have an alternative already in place. An awesome and amazing alternative *evil laugh*

Your code is awesome though for v4.
