Prevent this scenario:
User makes post Post gets reported to moderators user edits post Post can't be reported again
Intended to prevent flash/hit-and-run attacks where someone makes a post, and leaves it there just long enough to be seen by the victim, yet edited out before the mod has a chance to see it. ...and then edited back to being against the rules again.

The v5 Reported Post system (and the current v4 one actually) create a copy of the post when it's reported. Them editing it does nothing to prevent the staff from dealing with the original post.
The new Reported Post system is even more amazing, with a dozen new features to help deal with and manage reported content and members. There are no Flash/Hit-and-Run attacks.

Is there a way to allow a post to be re-reported?
To for example deal with a case where a post that has been dealt with is later changed to break the rules again?

In v5 posts can be reported multiple times, but they are added to the Reasons Reported (see the screenshot below) in the Report . That way the Reported Post inbox isn't spammed with reports. The same post receives multiple reasons for the same report. This is one of the new features. I would assume in most cases that the violating post would have been removed, preventing future editing all together, not to mention the fact that the member probably received a warning (or more) for their behavior. I think it would be very rare for someone to edit their post after it's already been dealt with to be violating rules again. But if they did you are covered. Here is a shot of the Reported Post Inbox. You can see all the reports here. I created the third one down as an example. The top 2 are actually ones you were doing for tests. Though I edited Patrick's name in. Here is a shot of a report. I'll just list some things to check out. - A copy of the Reported Post. If you click 'Take Immediate Action' a toolbar appears allowing you to do everything to a thread that you can. Lock, Delete, Move, etc. This is for when the post must be dealt with right away.
- Reasons Reported. If multiple members report a post then all the reasons appear here. There is an expand and collapse link that appears when there are a lot of reasons reported so you can hide them and work more efficiently.
- Staff Discussion. You can see that I posted. This essentially creates a mini discussion thread between staff where they can talk about what to do. You'll notice under the reply box there is an area to make suggestions. Any time a staff member posts they can use that area to say what you think should be done. When you submit it will place your suggestions on the right side of the report in the Suggestions area. Submitting new suggestions overwrites the old ones.
- Reported User. You can see the reported users mini-profile. This helps the staff recognize the member. Their staff notes also appear so that you can see if they have a history for causing trouble, in case that affects their punishment.
- Suggestions. I mentioned already that submitted suggestions appear here. Each staff member will only appear once with their suggestions. This allows the main admin or whoever is going to take action see what the staffs opinion is at a glance.
- Resolution. Like the 'Take Immediate Action' toolbar is for dealing with the post. The Resolution box is for dealing with the member and closing the report. You can issue a warning, ban the member, or disable their account. You can add to their staff notes, and have the option to PM them a copy of what is written. Lastly, if everything is taken care of you can archive the report.
The Archive is just like the Report Inbox, but full of old reports. I hope that gives you a better idea of the Reported Posts.

Awesome, and I got my screenshots too ^.^
If a post is reported after it is archived, does it get bumped back up to the report inbox?

Awesome, and I got my screenshots too ^.^ If a post is reported after it is archived, does it get bumped back up to the report inbox? I actually don't think it does, but I don't remember for sure. An archived report has already been dealt with. The post has been moderated and the member has been punished. It's done. You ask a lot of questions as if no action was taken by anyone against a very disruptive member who somehow continues to be disruptive. My response is basically the same as last time. I would assume in most cases that the violating post would have been removed, preventing future editing all together, not to mention the fact that the member probably received a warning (or more) for their behavior. I think it would be very rare for someone to edit their post after it's already been dealt with to be violating rules again. The same goes for reporting a post that's already sitting in the archive. Actions were either taken or they weren't but the staff already dealt with it. Reporting it again won't change that.

I'm not trying to be annoying. I jus thappen to ask a lot of what-ifs on corner cases. Being a very stubborn beta tester for another project kinda does that to ya. *blush*
And beleive it or not I have seen cases of ninja edits to buried posts.
But I'm just being annoying now, so I'll drop it. I just wanted to be thorough.

I was just trying to say that you ask very similar questions over and over. There is nothing wrong with questions. We like that you ask so many questions. What-ifs help us find things we may have missed. So please don't stop. Just consider that some of your questions are very very similar to ones I've already answered for you. That's not always your fault though, since you don't know the system. If you hadn't asked your last question I wouldn't have taken the time to post those screenshots for everyone. Please don't stop asking questions. ;D

Good.
It's just that "sneak edit an old buried post" is a tactic I've actually seen trolls use.
