I recently asked on the codes support board if there was a code for this.
Sometimes new replies appear on a given thread while I'm typing my reply that I'd like to read before hitting "post reply".
Do you think you can add the ability of being notified of the appearance of new posts in real time from the reply page, and subsequently being able to modify one's post to include the new info?
Thanks!

Richie I don't think thats what he means. I think he is saying that while your are typing your reply, some other people reply before you. he is asking to be notified before your post goes through and then be able to type more(or less).

As I recall, when asked about this previously, we were told the constant updating would put too much of a load on the servers. I'll see if I can find the relevant thread.ETA: Sorry. Couldn't locate the old thread.

Yep, that's what I mean (I'm a she btw ). My group has been asking since apparently the feature exists on some other boards they frequent. Thanks for your replies!

And also, even if it wasn't real time. just maybe you hit post, and then it says that there has been a post and shows you the post. and then you can modify your previous writings

The amount of additional tracking required to make this work would be a strain on the servers and would slow down the forums as a result. Its the same reason we don't offer live updating threads as a default option. The functionality is something we want to offer everywhere in the future once it becomes more plausible to do so. To compensate for any threads missed though we do take you to any new threads as soon as you post. You also have the ability to modify your post if one of the new threads needed a response.
When we can live update in the future you can be assured we will. We want to.
