I find i can't login to the Beta board. I AM a Beta tester. I tried logging in under my support ID & password on (I think) the global page, it says "Account doesn't exist" but yet when I input my ID in a new signup the user id exists.... and when i click "need help logging in" I get sent back here with a "you do not have permission to access this" error. What's up?

I did... I get "We could not locate a global account with that email address. Please try again or enter a username and password for your forum account." And when i tried it with my ID I get "We're sorry. We could not find an account with this username. Please try again." and I KNOW I made a global account... When I do the password retrieval thing, I get the same thing...

When I do the password retrieval thing, I get the same thing... If you KNOW for sure that you made a global account then it is your email address that you log in with. Are you sure you're entering the correct email address? We just had someone the other day that had the same problem, they forgot they used their old email address. The email tied to the account by default is whatever email address you had here on support, unless you changed it during the upgrade to global account process. Try any alternate emails you have. Based on the fact that password recovery couldn't help you leads me to believe you are trying a different email then the one actually tied to your account. Try that and let me know what happens. If you are successful with a different email then you will need to use that for the rest of the beta. We will eventually have a change email feature, but not until after v5 launch.

When I checked your account it says it hasn't been upgraded yet. There is no global account tied to that username or your email address here on support. Your username was found just fine, I can even access your profile on the beta board. I don't have your password so I can't test any further than that. I would suggest trying to login again using your username: hawke53051
Your password may be from a few months ago when we made the copy of this support forum. So if you've changed your password in the last few months that may be your issue. You won't be able to use the forgot password feature because you haven't upgraded your account yet. Try older passwords if you have them.

Ok. it worked. But what is a Global Account? Glad it worked. From now on login with your email address on the v5 forum. A Global Account will let you have multiple accounts on the same forum tied to a single login. So lets say you had 2 accounts on the v5 board, you just login once with your email. Then any time you want you can switch between the accounts using the bar in the bottom right of the screen. Once v5 launches Global Accounts get even better. You can have accounts from multiple ProBoards forums all tied to the single login. Then jump from forum to forum in just 2 clicks. The Global Login increases security as well. In v5 when you login from the forum you are protected on our secure server. You login with your email which no one knows but you. In v4 everyone can see your username that you login with, in theory they could try to guess your password. In v5 they have no way of knowing what email you are logging in with, they wouldn't even know where to begin trying to access your account. Global accounts will have additional benefits as well. One such thing we are working on is personal ad-free. Right now a forum admin has to pay to disable ads on their forum. That will still exist in v5. But lets say the admin on a forum you like isn't up for that. You can get personal ad-free for your Global Account and see no ads on all the ProBoards forums you go to. That's just one of many exciting things the Global Account will be able to offer you to improve your forum experience.
