Is it possible to have certain custom fields available only to certain groups? But what someone chooses is visible to everyone? Is this a built in option or could it be done with JavaScript and template modification?

Custom Profile Fields in v5 currently display for everyone. The only permissions that are set right now are for who can edit them. The only display options are for profile, mini-profile or both. It may be possible through the use of plugins and codes to create a display permissions option for fields.
