Decent colors, I think the width of the board is too small though. I also like the header, but you're right it doesn't really pop out. Keep working at it  |

My primary concern is that it takes so long to scroll down before you get to anything. The general background and the vector thing around the boards is good, but the tree is just far too big. As for the logo I'd just make it a little smaller in height terms as well and widen it out along with the board width, just so there's a little less padding on that brown background.
Move the ad back where it normally is too - it doesn't feel like it should be up there.

I would make the print a tad darker so it will be easier to read.I find it refreshing to enter a forum and it isn't black for a change.I like the layout but with the print being so light it also makes it look clashy.
