I find that content marketing is a good avenue to attract traffic. However article management tools / feed are currently lacking. Having a blog or external site to do this makes no sense because people would like to read this news on the page they land on. It makes no sense to key in the forum url, then click on a link just to read news. Similarly, people who land on the news blog will not be aware that the site is actually centered around a community.

Proboards should include more options for article and content management. Aside from the news fader, a news article system would be helpful. Perhaps include an option to repost interesting forum posts as articles in addition to a blog in which staff members or even regular members can contribute. Include blog posting under user permission settings. The blog can be interesting if even regular members can contribute.

Our new Custom Pages feature allows you to set a custom page as your forum's homepage (and have additional pages besides this one). You can use Custom Pages to display posts from your forum. So, for example, you could display the opening posts from 10 topics on a specific board. Whenever you make a post on that board, the Custom Page automatically updates to have the post.

I think this would accomplish what you are looking for, at least on a basic level.

I'm looking for more flexibility in desigining such a custom front page - mainly the ability to add and remove functional modules without much coding. For example 1 - 4 columns, width of each adjustable. For the wider column forum index can be included.. the blog and featured articles content can be displayed in the sidebar. Or, the news feed can be above the forum index within the same column. Perhaps some other neat widgets/apps would be nice

Our Custom Page feature is fully customizable. We offer a variety of default layouts to choose from, but you can custom create your own as well. We also provide a number of forum widgets that help display forum data, etc. This already all exists in v5.
