BetaZone Question

I just signed up for BetaZone:

BetaZone allows you to make a "test copy" of your forum so that you can get to know our new ProBoards v5 forum software in advance of the full ProBoards v5 release later this year.

I have a few questions:

1) During the time I'm 'playing' with the new format, will my members be seeing it in the new format?

2) Will any code tweaks or html changes that I make in my test copy stay with it when the board is officially switched to v5?

1) No, it's at a different URL (but you can invite them to come play with it)

2) You can export your theme or any plugins you create, and then re-import them when the real v5 upgrade happens.

What happens if a moderator does not sign up his site to the new scheme? Will it just be wiped out?
Is there a lot of technicality involved in making the switch - especially for older people?

No. Once the official upgrade occurs, all boards will be converted automatically. You will not lose your board.

The beta zone sign up is just so that you can begin to play with the admin features, plugins and themes prior to the official upgrade. v5 is supposed to be much simpler to customize, so I doubt it would be a problem for an older person. Plus, there will still be lots of people to help with questions, as always.

No data is lost in the conversion. You will keep every post, every thread, every category, every board. You don't need to have any technical knowledge. In fact, ProBoards v5 is even easier to use than ProBoards v4.5.
