Using member ID/pw externally

Is there any feasible way that V5 forum member IDs can be used to talk to an external program that requires similar access information ?
Imagine an mmorpg for example, which requires a signup to play and currently uses php signup talking to MS SQL via ODBC.

It would be really useful if a forum signup achieved both access to the forum "and" created the game account too.

I know I'm hoping more than expecting but, if you don't ask....

If an API comes available, dear god, Proboards will probably end up expanding to a ridiculous length.
