Currently I find it difficult to navigate Proboards forums on mobile touchscreen devices. Please make a built-in template which is touchscreen friendly. Also make the login form more touchscreen friendly.

We've already built a fully mobile version of v5. We also have iPhone and Android apps as well (which work with v4 right now).

How will skins / headers and footers affect the way forum looks like and functions on mobile?

Mobile runs a theme controlled by us here at ProBoards. We set the style to maintain optimal functionality for mobile users. (They can switch to the actual form with the tap of a button) Right now it's still in Beta but we will be updating the design further as we approach launch. At some point in the future we'd like to offer a few customization options for admins. But for now its hard coded by us.

At some point in the future we'd like to offer a few customization options for admins. But for now its hard coded by us. Is there any chance that plugins can be taken into consideration? (If only in certain aspects.) I'll give you a scenario: 1) I write a plugin that creates a spoiler UBBC tag (ignore the fact I believe this is a v5 feature) 2) This tag gets replaced with a spoiler text box in the regular UI by the plugin 3) In the mobile version, we'll just see " text " 4) That is not terribly friendly, should we be using more advanced tags (think current v4 table mods: [table width=234 height=41 bgcolor=000000]) 5) We can "modify" posts by providing filter out options in plugins. Again, this is just a scenario that came to mind.

Chris,
We definitely want to give you more control over the mobile site down the road. There are a lot of challenges on the mobile end trying to design for all sorts of devices (some might say even worse than trying to design with IE7 in mind).
Over time we will absolutely open things up so that you can gain more control over the mobile end, but at least to start we're keeping hold on that to ensure consistency and compatibility.
