I don't know if this is possible through the board OR the live chat feature, but is it possible for members to get an email notice of a reply to one of their subscribed threads which show the content/text of the reply in that notification?
This would allow them to see what has been written in the thread without having to log-in to the forum...
Thanks, Pat

But other places I visit where I have used it do the same thing. I think it's a good idea not to include the message in the email, that way it encourages your members to visit the forum, and potentially continue the conversation. Which in the long run, means an active forum.

We have not finalized the format of email notifications in v5. However, we have already talked about having a preview of posts in notification emails. However, be aware it is just that a preview. Admins needs their members to log into their forums. They need members on the forums or the forums don't grow.

My guys want to see what has been posted on their smart-phones without having to log-in to the net and visit the forum... I would assume that along with the notifications that a link back to the thread page would be provided so that they can just click on the link to go directly to the thread page... Right? I need some way on allowing them to keep a running conversation going WITHOUT having to purposely sign into the forum page/that particular thread to see what has been posted by whoever... Pat

We have dedicated lots of resources to users who want to use their smart phones. Links in the emails will take you directly to the threads. In turn v5 has a mobile version, specially designed for smart phone users. Making it easier than ever to reply and use the forum. It can't possibly be any easier than reading the notification, clicking the link and then composing a reply on the actual forum itself.
We additionally have both Android and iPhone applications which can be used now with v4 if you have members on mobile.

If they can see what has been written, and have a live link to go back directly to that thread, it will be a LOT easier to pull these non-technical old farts in my group back off the Yahoo format and to the Proboards format... That's really the biggest hurdle I have come accross; these guys like to keep a running conversation thread going, where they can BS about anything under the sun, and the Yahoo ability to get emails which show the text of the latest reply is more convenient for them in this respect. Of course, with the Yahoo group, they can also simply reply to the email notification they get, and it get's posted to the thread, but I'm pretty sure that feature isn't possible with Proboards, is it?
