Don't know if this has already been suggested, but it would be nice if you could select which groups of people can see certain information. For instance there might be certain people on here i would want to give my facebook or email to and certain members i wouldn't. It'd be nice if you could only share with friends, or even only share with specific people on a list. Sorta how facebook has it.

Everything in your profile falls into two categories. Everyone or just you & staff.
At this time we won't be supporting this option, sorry. If you post something in your profile it is public.
It may be possible to create a plugin or code that does this, though it would be quite complex. And really it would just be hiding the information from people. The info would still be on the page technically.

Ok that's cool. Are you not going to do it mostly because it is hard to work with? Or because you just don't think people want it?

It would be lots and lots of extra code and validations on every bit of information in a profile.
Obviously at least you want it, so that's not a factor. We don't base decisions purely on that and not by just one of our opinions.
Though personally I find the 4 hours I have to sit and set everything on Facebook to be very annoying, and really quite pointless. Either share information or don't is my mentality. Chances are you don't know any of these people IRL, so how can you gauge who to trust with what information? You have no actual basis for that. Especially not by entire member groups. So either the information is public, share it or private, don't share it. Setting permissions is just a lot of fluff for no real reason. It would be more efficient and secure to just share the info with specific people if they requested it through PMs. Facebook is different because it generalizes people you theoretically know in real life vs strangers. On ProBoards everyone is stranger by Facebook's definition. You should only be posting and displaying information you are comfortable with everyone seeing. But again these are just my personal thoughts on the matter, and didn't actually weigh in on the final decision.
