I am a member of a couple of political boards and one thing that bugs me is people quote a thread and changes a couple of words in the quote so the quote means something complete different to the original quote.
Would there be anyway that you could stop members changing the quotes when they go to post something.

A plugin could be made, but it wouldn't be able to fully stop anybody since all they would have to do is disable Javascript or just modify the page's source. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Could it be put into the source code so it will apply to all forums.
I think PB would be the only boards that would have it. It would be a first PB

We've already improved the quote system significantly. You an now quote sources from around the web as well as members on your forum. It's really a matter of teaching your members to recognize false quotes and punish those who do them. There's no way to stop someone from composing their post in a certain way. Let's say we add something that makes a post quote uneditable. All they have to do is copy the existing text from the original post and then place it in their own new quote bubble and edit it. That's just the simplest work around. There would be 20 other ways to generate a quote. Heck let's say you lock the whole quote system down entirely somehow. What's to stop someone from just placing " around some text that they misquote in their post. It really comes down to managing the members and teaching them what is and isn't acceptable. And all quotes have links back to their sources. So teach members they can go to the source to verify the quote, or if the link has been removed maybe they shouldn't trust the quote.
Essentially there would be no system we could add that wouldn't still let people misquote others. It's on the members themselves, not the system. We already improved the quote system 100x over from v4 to v5.
